Route lines and map stamps

Your card shows your route on the fan map, your stars, your time against par and the days to launch. The share text never includes the route; the challenge link does, so a friend can race it.

How the scoring works

Each brief gives you a start pin and a handful of stops on our fan map of Leonida. You visit every stop once, in any order, and choose how to travel each leg. Car always works: a few minutes to get going, then a minute per map unit, slower through the wetlands and over the Keys bridges. Boat only runs between two coastal pins, starts slower than a car and then beats it on long stretches of water. Air has a fixed take-off wait, so a flight only pays off on the long hauls up to Port Gellhorn or Mount Kalaga. Once you submit, the page shows the best possible time (an exact search over every order and mode), par at 15% over it, and the best route drawn on the map so you can see what you missed.

Each day has one twist: a leg that must be by boat, closed airspace, wetlands at double time, a finish in the Keys, calm seas that halve boat legs, or bridge tolls into the Keys. Read it first: a twist can turn the obvious route into the slow one.

Region tips

The pins are the confirmed places in the positions we drew for them; the travel times are game rules invented for this puzzle and say nothing about the real game. For a free-form trip with a car and a playlist, use the road trip planner.

Questions

How does the scoring work?

Every leg has an invented travel time in minutes, worked out from the distance between the two pins on our fan map (map units, nothing measured from the game). A car leg costs 6 minutes plus the distance, and crawls through the Grassrivers wetlands and over the Keys bridges. A boat leg costs 10 minutes plus four fifths of the distance, and only runs between two coastal pins. A flight costs a fixed 25-minute take-off wait plus under half the distance, so it only pays on long legs. The day's twist changes one of these rules. Your score is the total; "best" is the fastest route a search over every order finds, and par is 15% over it.

How are the stars worked out?

Three stars: within 2 minutes of the best possible time. Two stars: at or under par. One star: any complete, legal route. Beat par on 5 different days for the rare "Par Breaker" album card, and score three stars on 10 days for the legendary "Leonida Navigator".

Can I plan with a keyboard or a screen reader?

Yes, and it is the same game. The stop list under the map has "Up" and "Down" buttons for each stop and a travel-mode select for each leg; the live time updates as you go and the route is read out as a list. Tapping the pins on the map is only a shortcut for the same list.

When is there a new brief?

Every day at midnight UTC, the same brief for everyone, so you can compare times without spoiling the route. One scored submit a day counts as one of today's dailies. After you have submitted, every earlier brief (from day 1) opens for unlimited practice; practice never counts as the daily.

Is any of this real GTA 6 information?

No. The stops are the places Rockstar has named, drawn on our own fan map in the positions we chose from the official descriptions. The travel times, the modes and the twists are game rules we made up for the puzzle. Nothing here says how long anything takes in the game.
