Leonida: the six regions of GTA 6
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida. Rockstar has named six regions, from the neon of Vice City to the swamps of Grassrivers and the forests on the northern border. Each has its own page below, with the official description, the places named there and how it looks in the official videos.
Every fact on this page comes from official Rockstar material or major outlets reporting on it. Numbers in brackets link to the sources at the bottom. Leaked material is never used.
| Region | Where | Reported real-world inspiration | Named places |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vice City | South-east coast | Modern-day Miami, Florida, the same city that inspired 2002's GTA: Vice City.[1][2][3] | Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka flea market, VC Port, Jack of Hearts, Only Raw Records |
| Leonida Keys | Far south, island chain | The Florida Keys.[1] | Brian's boat yard |
| Grassrivers | South, west of Vice City | The Florida Everglades.[1] | none yet |
| Port Gellhorn | North-west Gulf coast | Coverage frames it as a faded Florida Gulf/Panhandle-style coastal resort town; Rockstar has not named a real-world model.[1][3] | none yet |
| Ambrosia | Inland heartland | Central Florida sugar country near Lake Okeechobee. Fan wikis point to Clewiston's U.S. Sugar mill; Rockstar has not confirmed this.[1] | Allied Crystal sugar refinery |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | Northern border | No specific real place confirmed. Outlets see it as a forested, hilly take on northern Florida backcountry.[4][1] | none yet |
Positions are our approximate reading of official descriptions and widely reported comparisons. Only Mount Kalaga's northern position is stated directly by Rockstar.
Vice City
Rockstar presents Vice City as a single city that sums up America's glamour, hustle and greed. Its neighbourhoods range from the pastel art-deco hotels and white sand of Ocean Beach to the bakeries of Little Cuba. The Tisha-Wocka flea market is known for knock-off brands, and the VC Port is billed as the cruise-ship capital of the world. It is the neon-lit centre of the state of Leonida.[5][6] Read the Vice City guide →
Leonida Keys
Rockstar calls the Keys a gateway to paradise: a tropical island chain where dress is casual and the bars are well stocked. Life there is relaxed rather than showy. The official text warns that the islands sit next to some of America's most beautiful and most dangerous waters. It is home turf for Jason, Cal and Brian Heder.[5][7] Read the Leonida Keys guide →
Grassrivers
Rockstar bills Grassrivers as the untamed jewel of Leonida. It is an ancient-feeling wilderness where you never know what is under the water. Alligators are the well-known draw, but the official text hints at more dangerous predators and stranger finds hidden in the mangroves.[5][7] Read the Grassrivers guide →
Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is a former holiday town on Leonida's forgotten coast that the tourists have abandoned. Cheap motels, closed attractions and half-empty strip malls are all that remain of its glory days. The official copy says a new underground economy now runs on malt liquor, painkillers and truck-stop energy drinks. Rockstar also nods to dirt-bike culture there.[5][7] Read the Port Gellhorn guide →
Ambrosia
In Leonida's heartland, Rockstar says, American industry and old-fashioned values still rule regardless of the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery is the main employer. According to the official text, a local biker gang supplies almost everything else. Rockstar pitches it as the place where the fight over Leonida's health and wealth starts.[5][3] Read the Ambrosia guide →
Mount Kalaga National Park
Rockstar describes Mount Kalaga as wild country on Leonida's northern edge, a place with space to breathe. The national landmark sits against the state's northern border and offers hunting, fishing and off-road trails. The official text says fringe mystics and paranoid radicals live in the surrounding backwoods, away from government attention.[5][4] Read the Mount Kalaga National Park guide →
How we map Leonida
Our interactive map is an original illustration based on these official descriptions, not a traced game map. It will be redrawn once the real map can be seen after release. Until then, places without an official position sit at their region's marker.
